Hølaløkka Water Park was completed in 2004, and was one of the first major projects completed in connection with the restoration of the Alna River. A 300-metre-long culvert became 300 metres of river, and a wetland was created to reduce the flow of surface water into the river and alleviate the danger of flooding. The wetlands also help to cleanse the water naturally, with water plants absorbing nitrates and other substances that would degrade the water quality.
